Ten games on the NHL slate this Saturday, and four of them start before 4 PM ET. If your pool locks at the first puck drop, now is the time to sort out your goalies. Here's who's confirmed, who's only projected and how we see it.
Three confirmed starters
- John Gibson gets the net for Detroit against St. Louis at 1 PM, per Ansar Khan of MLive. It's been a rough year (4-4-1, .874, 3.15), and he's facing Joel Hofer, who sits at 5-3-1 with a .923. Only lean on him if you're short on starts.
- Tristan Jarry starts for Edmonton on Long Island at 2 PM, per Stephen Whyno of The Associated Press. He's 3-1-2 with an .889 and a shutout, and he has McDavid's offence in front of him. Ilya Sorokin (6-3-0, .915) is projected at the other end.
- Anthony Stolarz faces the
Canucks at 7 PM, per Luke Fox of Sportsnet. At 4-1-0 with a .907 against a Vancouver team missing Filip Chytil, he's a solid play.
The rest, as projected by Daily Faceoff (not confirmed yet)
- Blackhawks at Boston (1 PM): Arvid Soderblom (0-2-0, .820) vs Jeremy Swayman (7-3-1, .912)
- Lightning at Nashville (2 PM): Andrei Vasilevskiy (6-3-0, .876) vs Justus Annunen (1-1-0, .846)
- Sabres at Los Angeles (4 PM): Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen (3-3-3, .866) vs Anton Forsberg (0-3-1, .902)
- Senators at San Jose (4 PM): Samuel Ersson (0-3-1, .849) vs Yaroslav Askarov (4-5-0, .900)
- Penguins at Montreal (7 PM): Sergei Murashov (0-3-1, .883) vs Jacob Fowler (6-1-0, .942, two shutouts)
- Leafs at Vancouver (7 PM): Kevin Lankinen (1-7-0, .812) in the Canucks' crease
- Blue Jackets at Dallas (8 PM): Jet Greaves (2-4-0, .884) vs Jake Oettinger (6-3-1, .917, three shutouts)
- Flames at Colorado (10 PM): Dustin Wolf (2-4-0, .847) vs Mackenzie Blackwood (6-3-0, .894)
Pool take: our safest picks today are Oettinger at home against Columbus, Swayman against Chicago and Fowler if Montreal confirms him. Keep in mind David Pagnotta said this week the Habs are rotating three goalies, so wait for the word. On the risky side, Lankinen against the Leafs and Ersson in San Jose are tough to trust. Wolf is on the second night of a back-to-back after Friday's win over Seattle, at altitude no less. With Devin Cooley listed week to week, Calgary doesn't have much of a choice.
Saturday injury check
- Colton Parayko is probable for St. Louis in Detroit at 1 PM, even after missing Friday's practice (upper body). Jim Montgomery called it cautionary. If he can't go, Quinton Burns would make his NHL debut.
- Chris Tanev returns for the Leafs in Vancouver after missing nine games. Not a points guy, but welcome news in pools that count blocked shots.
- Jared Spurgeon is week to week (lower body). He has 5 points in 10 games, and Minnesota plays Sunday in Washington.
- Brock Faber has been cleared to resume exercise and workouts, but there's no timetable for a return to games. Keeper and dynasty folks, hang in there.
- Taylor Hall will likely miss another couple of games, per Rod Brind'Amour (upper body).
- In New York, Joonas Korpisalo practiced Friday for the first time this season. Igor Shesterkin suffered a season-ending knee injury on Oct. 9, which is why the Rangers are shopping for a goalie.
Kucherov in Nashville
Tampa plays at 2 PM in Nashville. Pierre LeBrun said Friday night that Nikita Kucherov plans to keep playing while his trade request plays out, and Julien BriseBois has said the team has no intention of trading him. With 15 points in 12 games, he's an easy call in every format. Full story in our Kucherov piece.
We'll keep this page updated as more goalies are confirmed through the day.
