Editorial policy
This policy explains how we select, write, source and correct what we publish, and where our numbers come from.
News
Our news is written for poolers and fantasy hockey players: injuries, player moves, line combinations, game recaps and analysis. Stories are selected, written in our own words and published with the help of automated tools.
Every story credits at least one source, with a link to it, in the Sources section at the bottom of the page. It shows when it was published, and when it was updated if it changed. The players and teams it names link to their pages.
When no writer is named, the author shown is WebPuck.
Rumors
A rumor is not confirmed news. We sum up in our own words what a journalist, an insider, a team or the league posted, with a link to the original post and its author’s name. We do not copy the post’s text.
Every rumor has a status: rumor, confirmed or denied. We update it when the story is confirmed or denied, and the full timeline stays on the rumor’s page.
Stats and projections
Stats come from the public NHL feeds, updated after every game, and checked against the official NHL sources. The injury list and transactions come from ESPN’s public feed, credited on each page.
Projections come from our own model, built from the games played. They are estimates, with a range when we show one, and they guarantee nothing.
Corrections
If you see an error, tell us on the community Discord. We check it against the source we credit. A confirmed error is fixed in the text, and the page’s update date changes. A story whose address changes keeps its old address, which leads to the new one.
Independence
WebPuck is not affiliated with the NHL, the NHLPA or any team, and is not paid to cover any player or team.
