Late Friday afternoon kept the NHL trainers busy. Here's what moved since 2 PM and how it touches your weekend lineups.
Chytil and Foegele land on IR
In Vancouver, it's official: the Canucks put Filip Chytil (upper body) on IR and called up Jacob Quillan from Abbotsford. Chytil will miss Saturday against Toronto. He has just 2 points in 7 games despite close to 20 minutes a night, so his absence hurts the Canucks more than your pool.
In Ottawa, Bruce Garrioch confirms Warren Foegele joins Linus Ullmark and William Eklund on IR. Nothing changes for poolers, he was already out indefinitely.
Sandin-Pellikka heads back to the AHL
Detroit recalled defenseman Jacob Bernard-Docker from Grand Rapids and sent Axel Sandin-Pellikka down. The young blueliner had 1 point in 7 games on a little under 13 minutes a night. In a dynasty league, hang on to him, this is a normal step for a player his age. In a one year league, feel free to use the roster spot.
Along the same lines, Anaheim sent Nikita Klepov, its first round pick from June, back to OHL Saginaw after four scoreless NHL games.
Fiala is close, Manson and Zary are out
Good sign in LA: Kevin Fiala (lower body) took part in a regular practice, out of the red no contact jersey. David Pagnotta says not to expect him Saturday against Buffalo, but he's trending toward a return. If you've held him this long, now isn't the time to cut him.
In Colorado, Josh Manson (ankle) is expected to miss about eight weeks. In deep leagues, Sam Malinski is worth a look with 5 points in 12 games and over 17 minutes a night. That's our take, not a team announcement about his role.
In Calgary, Daily Faceoff reports Connor Zary is week to week after knee surgery, on top of Devin Cooley already being on IR.
Toronto gets set for Vancouver
Anthony Stolarz gets the net Saturday in Vancouver. At 4-1-0 with a .907, he belongs in your lineup, especially against a Canucks team without Chytil. Dakota Joshua (core) is expected back for that game, and Chris Tanev (upper body) could return too.
Suzuki is gripping his stick again
In Montreal, TVA Sports shows Nick Suzuki able to hold his stick and shoot. No return date yet, but it's a step in the right direction for the captain, who had 12 points in 9 games before getting hurt. Keep him stashed.
Pool take: Stolarz is a solid Saturday start. Hold Fiala and Suzuki, both are getting closer. Sandin-Pellikka and Klepov are dynasty holds only. Malinski is a deep league option with Manson out.
