NHL Oct. 31 recap: Crosby ties Dionne, Fowler wins again, Jarry blanks the Isles and Thompson hits 10 goals

Ten games on Halloween: Josh Anderson and Jacob Fowler lead the Habs, Sidney Crosby reaches 1,771 points, Tristan Jarry posts a shutout and Tage Thompson scores twice. The night's recap and what it means for your pool.

Ten games on Halloween night, and plenty of treats for poolers. Sidney Crosby caught Marcel Dionne in the record book, Jacob Fowler kept winning in Montreal, Tristan Jarry shut out the Islanders and Tage Thompson hit 10 goals. Here's what matters for your pool.

Canadiens 5, Penguins 4: Josh Anderson is rolling, Fowler wins again

Josh Anderson scored twice and added an assist, his fifth and sixth goals of the season. Chris Kreider (goal, assist), Alexandre Texier and Oliver Kapanen also scored, and Lane Hutson had two assists. Jacob Fowler made 25 saves on 29 shots. Per NHL PR, that's seven straight wins for him, making him the second youngest Habs goalie with a run that long, behind only Carey Price. For Pittsburgh, Sidney Crosby had a goal and two assists. That tied him with Marcel Dionne for sixth on the NHL's all time points list at 1,771, as David Pagnotta and TVA Sports noted, and RDS points out he passed Ray Bourque for the most assists with one team. Erik Karlsson had three points too.

Pool take: Fowler is 7-1 with a 1.84 GAA and a .932 save percentage. He's a number one goalie in every format right now. Anderson has 9 points in 14 games and is playing with real jump, a nice option in deeper pools. Karlsson (16 points) is still a money defenseman.

Maple Leafs 4, Canucks 2: Nylander and Matthews keep producing

William Nylander scored his 10th and added an assist, and Auston Matthews scored his 11th. Per NHL PR, Matthews stretched his season opening road point streak to eight games, the second longest in Leafs history. Anthony Stolarz stopped 26 of 28. Brock Boeser and Max Sasson scored for Vancouver.

Pool take: Matthews (24 points) and Nylander (21 points) in 16 games are as safe as it gets. Stolarz is 5-1, a solid play when he's confirmed.

Oilers 4, Islanders 0: Jarry blanks New York

Tristan Jarry stopped all 18 shots for his second shutout of the season. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored twice and Leon Draisaitl had two assists. Vasily Podkolzin scored his 9th goal.

Pool take: Podkolzin has 14 points in 14 games with a +10, a name worth checking on your waiver wire. Jarry (.901) is still a bit up and down, but he now has two shutouts.

Sabres 3, Kings 2: Tage Thompson hits 10 goals

Tage Thompson scored twice, including the power play winner in the third, on eight shots. Zach Benson and Rasmus Dahlin had two assists each, and Jack Quinn added a goal and an assist. Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen made 27 saves.

Pool take: Thompson has 10 goals and 17 points in 14 games. Benson is up to 13 points with a +10, a nice option in deeper pools.

Senators 5, Sharks 1: Stützle leads the way

Tim Stützle (goal, assist), Dylan Cozens (goal, assist), Shane Pinto (goal, assist), Drake Batherson and Ridly Greig, shorthanded, scored for Ottawa. Jake Sanderson had two assists and Samuel Ersson stopped 22 of 23. Michael Misa scored San Jose's only goal.

Pool take: Stützle has 21 points in 15 games. Ersson finally had a good night, but with an .866 save percentage we'd wait before trusting him.

Bruins 5, Blackhawks 4 (OT): Frondell scores twice

Elias Lindholm won it for Boston in overtime. The Bruins scored twice late in the third to force extra time, including Mason Geekie's equalizer with 12 seconds left. Jason Peterka and Charlie McAvoy had two assists each, and David Pastrnak scored his 8th. For Chicago, Anton Frondell scored twice on nine shots and Connor Bedard had a goal and an assist. Michael DiPietro stopped 37 of 41.

Pool take: Bedard has 9 points in 8 games since coming back. Frondell is starting to shoot a lot, a young name to watch in keeper and dynasty leagues.

Predators 5, Lightning 4 (SO): three assists for Kucherov

With all the noise around him, Nikita Kucherov had three assists. He's now at 18 points in 13 games. John Carlson (goal, assist), Jake Guentzel and Victor Hedman scored for Tampa. Steven Stamkos tied it on the power play in the third against his old team, then scored the deciding goal in the shootout. Filip Forsberg and Nick Perbix had two assists each.

Pool take: rumors or not, Kucherov keeps producing. Keep him in your lineup. Stamkos has 8 goals and 16 points in 14 games.

Blues 5, Red Wings 4: three goals in under five minutes

The Blues erased a 4-2 deficit in the third with three goals in under five minutes from Pavel Buchnevich, Justin Barron and Alexander Kaskimaki. Jimmy Snuggerud had a goal and an assist, his 8th of the season. John Gibson allowed five goals on 15 shots. Lucas Raymond had a goal and an assist for Detroit.

Pool take: Snuggerud has 8 goals in 14 games, a nice pickup if you need goals. Gibson is at .860, so steer clear for now.

Stars 3, Blue Jackets 1: Oettinger is steady

Jake Oettinger stopped 24 of 25. Mikko Rantanen scored on the power play, his 7th, and Thomas Harley and Arttu Hyry also scored. Damon Severson scored for Columbus.

Pool take: Rantanen has 17 points in 14 games. Oettinger is still a top tier goalie.

Avalanche vs. Flames: Colorado in control

This one was still going when we published. The Avalanche led 4-1 in the second period on goals from Nathan MacKinnon (goal, assist), Martin Necas (goal, assist, on the power play), Artturi Lehkonen and Brett Nelson, with Cale Makar already at two assists. Joel Farabee scored for Calgary. We'll update this section once it's final.

Pool take: MacKinnon (22 points) and Lehkonen (11 goals) are rolling, and Makar keeps filling the score sheet.

The bottom line

Hot right now: Jacob Fowler, Josh Anderson, Tage Thompson, Vasily Podkolzin, Tim Stützle and Nikita Kucherov. Worth grabbing in deeper pools if they're out there: Podkolzin, Zach Benson and Jimmy Snuggerud. And for the latest on Kucherov and the Dylan Larkin rumors, check out our rumors section.
